For a while now, I've been trying to expand my individual consulting services on climate adaptation for cities and towns to businesses. A while ago, I had already developed my self-assessment tool "Opportunities and risks due to climate change - a self-assessment for companies." which you can find on my website. Have a look!
Unfortunately, progress has been slow so far, but a lot has happened in the last few months. I have been one of the first to complete the advanced training to become an official KlimaProfit consultant. Klima.Profit is a program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia(NRW) that will systematically assesses participating companies for their climate adaptation needs and help them to develop and implement measures. Those of you who are already familiar with Öko.Profit are not far off. Klima.Profit is inspired by this approach. Why should companies look into it? Well, they can significantly reduce their risk of loss, maintain productivity, remain insurable and become more creditworthy. And then, there are new fields within the business to explore, and ... a growing image among customers, professionals and employees is nothing to turn away from, either. |
Leider ging es bisher nur langsam voran, aber in den letzten Monaten hat sich viel getan. Ich habe als eine der Ersten die Fortbildung zur offiziellen KlimaProfit-Beraterin absolviert. Klima.Profit ist ein Programm des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, das teilnehmende Unternehmen systematisch auf ihren Klimaanpassungsbedarf hin prüfen und bei der Entwicklung und Umsetzung von Maßnahmen helfen wird. Wer bereits Öko.Profit kennt, liegt garnicht so verkehrt. Klima.Profit ist von diesem Ansatz inspiriert. Warum Unternehmen das tun sollten? Nun, sie reduzieren erheblich ihr Schadensrisiko, erhalten ihre Produktivität, bleiben versicherbar und werden kreditwürdiger. Und dann gibt es da noch neue Geschäftsfelder zu entdecken während ein wachsendes Image bei Kunden, Fachkräften und Mitarbeitenden auch nicht zu verachten ist.

As one of the first soon-to-be-certified consultants, I will be able to support companies in NRW that apply for the new Klima.Profit funding program in 2024. I am very much looking forward to that. And by the way ..., the method also works outside NRW. Who would like to try it out? I look forward to receiving your request.

Als eine der ersten, bald zertifizierten Berater:innen darf ich dann Unternehmen in NRW, die sich 2024 in dem neuen Förderprogramm Klima.Profit bewerben, unterstützen. Ich freue mich sehr darauf. Und nebenbei …, die Methode funktioniert grundsätzlich auch außerhalb NRWs. Wer möchte es gern mal ausprobieren? Ich freue mich auf Rückmeldungen.

And we continue with climate adaptation in companies. For the German Retail Association (HDE), I'm working with colleagues to develop a training program for retailers - HDE-Adapt. In an interview with my colleague Dr. Hans-Peter Winkelmann from solutions4climate, we talk about the challenges facing the retail trade as well as its opportunities in climate change, because ... at 40 degrees C, no one really wants to shop in a store anymore.

Und weiter geht es mit Klimaanpassung in Unternehmen. Für den Handelsverband Deutschland e.V. (HDE) entwickle ich gemeinsam mit Kolleg:innen ein Weiterbildungsprogramm für den Einzelhandel - HDE-Adapt. Im Interview mit meinem Kollegen Dr. Hans-Peter Winkelmann von solutions4climate reden wir über die Herausforderungen des Einzelhandels als auch dessen Chancen im Klimawandel, denn ... bei 40 Grad C will wirklich niemand mehr im Shop einkaufen.

Another project for the federal state of Baden-Württemberg is about the development of a training concept for climate management for companies. Here, I am working in a team with SustainableThinking GbR from Darmstadt on behalf of the State Agency for Environmental Technology and Resource Efficiency in Baden-Württemberg - Umwelttechnik BW GmbH. The program is designed to help companies operate sustainably and climate-neutrally in the face of climate change, secure productivity and competitiveness, and explore new market opportunities. If all goes well, the concept will be ready at the Competence Center for Climate Protection in Businesses BW this summer and then we can actually get started.

Um die Entwicklung eines Schulungskonzeptes zum Klimamanagement für Unternehmen geht es auch in einem weiteren Projekt für das Land Baden-Württemberg. Hier arbeite ich im Team mit SustainableThinking GbR aus Darmstadt im Auftrag der Landesagentur für Umwelttechnik und Ressourceneffizienz in Baden-Württemberg - Umwelttechnik BW GmbH. Das Programm soll Unternehmen unterstützen, im Klimawandel nachhaltig und klimaneutral zu wirtschaften, Produktivität und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit zu sichern sowie neue Marktchancen zu erkunden. Wenn alles gut geht, steht das Konzept beim Kompetenzzentrum Klimaschutz in Unternehmen BW diesen Sommer und dann kann es eigentlich losgehen.

Hier schon mal soviel: Das nächste European Urban Resilience Forum wird vom 18. bis 20.Oktober 2023 in Cascais, Portugal stattfinden. Sehen wir uns dort? Oder möchte jemand die spannenden Möglichkeiten des City-to-City-Exchange-Förderprogramms der European Urban Initiative (EUI) nutzen, um bei gegenseitigen Besuchen ganz konkret, sich Anregungen zur Lösung eigener Herausforderungen zu holen?
